River NWR
9/9/2001
The
highlight of the day was this Northern Wheatear,
photographed
in the morning through my spotting scope
from the North Pool overlook,
a very
snappy bird indeed.
Here's
my only shot of the tail pattern.
At
mid-day we found a nice bright juvenile American Golden Plover
at the Old Pines, but the atmospherics were getting pretty bad.

Finally,
at the Newburyport WW Treatment Plant, we had a
close comparison of plumages/ages of dowitchers,
along
with a Pectoral Sandpiper, yellowlegs, peeps, and
this
molting juvenile Dunlin.
