Why did the turkey cross the saltmarsh?

What the heck are those things out in the saltmarsh off Island Rd. in Essex?

Hmmm. Looks like the migration of the rare Saltmarsh Wild Turkey!

Yup, based on my map software, they walked across over 2200' of saltmarsh (flapping or jumping over the ditches) from Lowe Island to Whites Hill (I mean, why not just fly - they do have wings!)
