Shorebirds
Near the Shore
September 9, 2006

Who made these prints at Sandy Point State
Reservation?

Buff-breasted Sandpipers! These are my favorite non-shore shorebirds.

They were picking insects off of these plants.

These juvenile birds may have never seen humans before landing
on Plum Island.
They were not shy at all.
Later,
we kayaked out in the salt marsh at high tide for a few more photo
ops.

and Semi-palmated Sandpiper

This Pectoral Sandpiper posed nicely.
