Birding in Massachusetts
This is a photo of a Boreal owl which spent the winter of 1996/97 in Boston,
consuming many of the city's rats (look carefully and you will see rat
hindquarters in this photo) and pretty much ignoring the hundreds, maybe
thousands, of people who stopped by for a visit. It was easily accessible
as it roosted routinely in this yew tree on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston,
10 feet from the sidewalk.
