What happens when the sand lances are near the surface?
Well, you get charismatic megafauna...
like Humpbacks, chowing
down;

Sooty Shearwaters so full of fish that they could hardly take
off;

Greater Shearwaters coming in to feast;

and Wilson's Storm-petrels looking for scraps.
Where there are concentrations
of other seabirds, there are jaegers -

a subadult Long-tailed Jaeger
