Green-tailed
Towhee
Joppa Flats Bird Banding Station
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island
10/31/2006
A Green-tailed Towhee
was captured and banded on Plum Island today.
Present at the station were Station Manager Janet Standley, banding
volunteers
Melanie Pearlstein, Alexandra Erickson, and Ganson Purcell, and
Joppa Flats
Sanctuary Director Bill Gette (along with a very lucky high school
group from
Reading, Mass.) Fortunately, Bill called me and I could get there
before the bird
was released. I managed to get a few photos (below). Perhaps the
strong winds
of last weekend facilitated the arrival of our visitor. Quite
a bird to get on the last
day of the banding season!
