the Wandering Piping Plover




I found a flagged adult Piping Plover along with 12 others near Emerson Rocks on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on September 1, 2013.

I sent this photo, along with details, to Cheri Gratto-Trevor from Environment Canada. She responded that this bird had been marked on Maissonette Beach, New Brunswick, on 19 June 2013. It was also reported on 29 July at Moonstone Beach, Rhode Island. So, this bird has been staging in New England for over a month, which is pretty strange. Here's a map of its known wanderings:
